With the right applications, a computer can be an effective educational tool for infants. KidsMouse provides a colorful environment for children, in which they can play various games and learn the alphabet, how to count and acquire other basic logic skills. All operations are performed with the mouse, so your children will not have any difficulties playing or switching between games.

KidsMouse can be used on Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7, as well as various Mac OS X versions. It should not take more than a minute to download and install the application. Moreover, its hardware requirements are modest, so you can run it even on outdated machines.

The application runs in full screen mode, so you can make sure that your children won't touch anything on your desktop. It is possible to set it to windowed mode, by hitting the ESC key, but it will return to full screen when you start or stop a game. The available games are represented by large, colored icons, on separate pages. The colored illustrations and animations, as well as the happy sound effects will make your children feel comfortable.

Certain games can be played in different modes. For example, if a child selects the alphabet game, he can either drag and drop letters over faded out letters or drag them over blank spaces, in alphabetical order. Another game will help your children exercise their counting skills, from 1 to 10 or 11 to 20. The application will display one or more animals and the player will have to select the appropriate number.

A child may also play games that involve matching shapes, placing colored balls in the correct bubbles, completing puzzles, adding colors, drawings and more. Other games involve more logic and calculation skills. Depending on the selected game, your child may have to place a certain number of monkeys on a seesaw, to balance it, adjust a clock, complete a map puzzle and more.

Pros

KidsMouse includes various games for children. Its sounds and colors make the playing environment fun and comfortable. By playing these games, children can improve their alphabet, counting or logic skills.

Cons

You can not mute the sounds or set the interface to stay in windowed mode at all times. With KidsMouse, your children can exercise their counting, spelling and other basic logic skills and have fun at the same time.
